Charlotte and Mike, our fantastic photographer duo (and newlyweds themselves), have posted some of their favorite shots from our wedding here and from the reception here. We had a peek at these during our honeymoon and were just blown away by what Charlotte and Mike did. Here’s a sample.

New Year’s Eve. A walk at sunset on the palm-lined beach by the Hotel del Coronado. Champagne on ice back at the house. Friends to celebrate with. The perfect ring.
All the elements were in place for a picture-perfect proposal, except for… 
…the cold, driving rainstorm.
There’s nothing that says “I want to spend the rest of my life with you” than a walk on the beach when it’s 50 degrees and pouring. But after three years together almost to the day (see “When did this all start?”), the time had come, and nothing was going to get in the way.
“You’re not doing this now, are you?” she said as if reading from the script of a WB teen drama. He countered with a classic Seinfeld-ian move: not giving her the ring until they left the beach for fear she’d drop it in the sand.
And just like that, the rain that had been bothering her didn’t matter anymore. She said YES!; he slid on the ring; and, already thoroughly soaked by this point, they took their first stroll as future husband-and-wife along the Coronado beach …. which he pointed out, in a most improbable twist of fate, they had entirely to themselves.

It's a fair question, but not an easy one. Here is our best account of when Jenny & Mark first became, shall we say, "interested" in each other.
History books will most likely pin the start date of Jenny and Mark's relationship to January 5, 2003. Mark picked Jenny up at her house on a Sunday evening and took her to the National Gallery of Art to hear the annual Viennese New Year's Concert. Dinner afterward? No thanks, she said. She had an "early morning" the next day, and a month-long trip to Africa starting the day after that. Still, it was a start. (Dinner would have been nice.)
Some deeper digging suggests it could have begun a week or so before on December 27, 2002. Already back at work after the holiday, while the rest of the city was vacationing, Jenny called Mark and proposed an impromptu movie outing to see Adaptation. Mark suggested dinner beforehand at a tapas restaurant (good move!), and then talked her into coffee afterward. Though it wasn't a date, both return home that night thinking "That was a lot like a date."
Might it go even farther back? Oh, it most certainly does. (more…)
